For owner Orawan or “Far” as she is fondly known, her cosy “bamboo house” restaurant and Thai garden is a dream come true. For as long as she can remember she wanted to own a restaurant. Her culinary skills and sensational buffet spreads are legendary in the area and that’s why Hong Far Garden draws people from far and near, from the immediate community as well as Pretoria, Joburg, Midrand and Roodepoort.
When she first came to South Africa, she made money by cooking for house parties. When she had saved up enough money, she opened Hong Far Garden Restaurant & Take Away, where she could further develop her cooking talents whilst simultaneously expanding her offering to a much wider audience.
The lush, treed garden restaurant specialises in authentic Thai food prepared by Far and her assistant chefs. Mouth-watering dishes like Thai Green Curry, Crispy Pork or Duck and Papaya Salad together with their famous Spring Rolls are a taste sensation that will keep you coming back again and again. The expansive menu has many other Thai signature dishes to choose from, so much so that you will find yourself spoilt for choice and having to ask to meet Far in person to get her personal gastronomic recommendation.

Far’s Cosy Bamboo House
Perfect for lunch and dinner, in the summer months our bamboo house provides shelter from rain showers and on hot days the sides are open to provide a gentle breeze.
In the winter months our bamboo house is heated to create a warm cosy and relaxed atmosphere.
